Keeping your houseplants alive is not an easy task. Especially for the people who don’t get time to look over those beautiful greens in their space. It might be because of lack of sunlight or water, the odds can be against you before you even get your houseplant to your space.

But, if you love them and determined to keep it healthy or alive, you don’t need to be a green thumb.

1. Aloe Vera

Is an easy-to-grow, sun-loving succulent. It helps clear formaldehyde and benzene from the air, which can be a byproduct of chemical-based household cleaners, paints, etc.

Aloe is a smart choice for your sunny kitchen window sill or bay window. Beyond its air-clearing abilities, the gel inside an aloe plant can heal cuts and burns.

2. Peace Lilies

Help to remove ammonia, benzene and formaldehyde. Place it near window sill where it gets indirect sunlight throughout the day at least for 6-8 hours. It loves warm weather and produces white beautiful flowers in winter season that smells divine.

3. Devils Ivy

Devils Ivy is considered as virtually impossible to kill plant and known for its beautiful cascading heart shaped leaves. It can survive easily even in low light conditions and infrequent watering, making it an ideal plant for beginners or forgetful gardeners. Try to place it on tables or on bookshelves just like décor items.

4. Weeping Fig

This plant makes a startling appearance in any well-lit room, and is often found with braided trunks, as it’s pliant when growing and will adapt to this carefully crafted look well. The only trouble you’ll run into is with changing the plant’s habitat too much. Leave it in some indirect sunlight and don’t move it around much, and you’ll see the lively plant thrive.

5. Snake Plant

Of course, we would never encourage neglect, but if you happen to be the forgetful type, this could be the houseplant for you. 6. Philodendron

Aside from an occasional need for liquid fertilizer, the philodendron care is easy to care for, so long as you watch for the right signals. This is a houseplant that will tell you exactly what it needs. It will thrive indoors year round, but can enjoy an occasional stay outdoors in a shaded spot, so long as the weather is warm enough. Unlike many plants, it doesn’t experience much stress when transitioning from indoors to out and back.

7. Golden Pothos

This plant is super popular, both for its easygoing looks and lack of hard requirements for care. It can thrive in water or dry soil, and while it needs ample sunlight for the full breadth of its possible colors to flourish, it will do fine in lower light situations. Note that, although it’s simple and easy to care for, the plant is poisonous when ingested, especially to dogs and cats. So if you’re a pet owner, you may want to steer clear.

9. Cast Iron Plant

Its robust dark green leaves thrive in low light, and aren’t all that needy with water. It will grow slowly, but will live for many years, reaching a full height of about 2 feet.

Flaming dragon tree has tall, thick trunk that branches with age and can easily withstand even if you neglect it for few days. But, if you want to see its full potential, place it in shady spot and keep the soil moist.

11. Bamboo Palm

Bamboo palm plant also enjoys humid temperature and thrives both in direct and indirect sunlight. But, it’s better to keep it in the corners of your home as it grows tall up to 10 feet. Water them only when the top of the soil is dry.

12. Jade Plant

Jade, native to southern Africa, has become one of the most popular houseplants out there. Jade doesn’t require a whole lot of water, instead preferring the occasional drip and some indirect sunlight. The rubbery feel of the leaves and pliant trunk make it a joy to behold and even touch.
